For Those Missing Smallville, Behold! The Green Arrow!!
I was one of the many folks who loved the recently wrapped up CW series Smallville. It was a very well-done show chronicling Clark Kent‘s time in Smallville and some of the events that helped shape him into Superman. The concept could have really sucked, yet it didn’t. In fact, it was the exact opposite and in my opinion was the flame that kept the hopes of a proper Superman movie being on the big screen alive.
Even though the show has concluded its run, at the right time in my opinion, there are still legions of fans out there thirsty for this type of superhero TV show. After an aborted attempt at bringing Aquaman to series, the good folks at the CW have gone ahead with a new Green Arrow series from the same exact folks who put together Smallville.
Starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, the show (which has been dubbed ‘Arrow”) is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter, from a teleplay by Kreisberg & Guggenheim, story by Berlanti & Guggenheim. Melissa Kellner Berman is co-executive producer.
The pilot was directed by David Nutter who also directed the Smallville pilot which gives me great hope for the series.
With the show already in production, we are now given our first image of what this version of the Green Arrow will look featuring a new costume designed by Oscar-Winner Colleen Atwood.
I like it, however it looks an awful like the BBC’s version of Robin Hood TV series.
