6-Minute Spider-Man Preview Attached to Men in Black III in IMAX 3D

The good folks at Sony have taken a very interesting strategy with the marketing of The Amazing Spiderman. The various posters, images and trailers have done a great job of separating it from a very cluttered and impressive pack that includes the record-breaking Marvel’s The Avengers and the extremely hyped Dark Knight Rises.

Recently, we were given a special 4-minute extended preview of the movie with a great opening clip. Now, we are getting word that there will be a special six-minute preview attached to IMAX 3D prints of Men In Black III. No word yet on whether it will be an extended re-hash of what we have seen so far or if we are getting new footage shown to us.

The other question is whether we will see the footage at all. When The Dark Knight Rises did a similar thing by attaching an extended IMAX preview to Mission Impossible IV, the interwebs (rightfully) didn’t get the footage because it was all filmed in IMAX and online, the footage would have looked like crap.

I am a much bigger fan of IMAX over 3D, so it will be interesting see how this footage looks. The Amazing Spiderman is my sleeper pick of the summer next to Total Recall and I have high hopes for it.

About the Film
Directed by Marc Webb, the July 3 action adventure stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
