Teaser Poster for Sam Raimi’s “Oz The Great And Powerful”

One of the most anticipated films for Disney in 2013 is Sam Raimi‘s Oz The Great and Powerful.  A tentpole for the studio, the story is a prequel to the Wizard of Oz and stars James Franco as a circus magician who ends up in the magical world of Oz only to find himself in the middle of a fight for the world happening between three witches played by Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams.

Interestingly original much like Wicked’s take on the story of Oz, I really like this story and if there was ever a director who could bring this fantastical fairy tale to the big screen it is Raimi. While I have my issues with his take on the Spider-Man movies (specifically how he handled the origin story), he did make a beautiful looking story that was a feast for the senses.

In advance of the Comic-Con panel next on the film, we have ourselves a teaser poster thanks to the Disney Facebook page. While it’s not a direct scene from the film, it does indeed look pretty and gives me hope for the movie.

About the Film
When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis) Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
