Over at Deadline, there is a great article about (BBC’s Sherlock) Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Emmy chances, the star got into the future of the series. Even though his schedule is extremely busy now that his career is sky rockets in flight, the wildly popular series that has made the almost Doctor Who a household name is definitely not going anywhere. In fact, according to Cumberbatch, filming of season 3 is slated to start in January 2013.

Awesome.

As to how long we get to see him in the role, this is his response.

There’s no reason for us to stop if it’s still being adored and we still enjoy doing it. We only do three [episodes] at a time, so I think the normal fear of over-stretching the mark and just doing too many [doesn’t apply]. It’s good to leave people wanting more. I’d like to see [Sherlock] getting older. We’re starting quite young. It’s rare to see Holmes and Watson at the beginning of their relationship. We usually join them in their mid-to-late 40s or 50s. I’ve got a way to go. I mean, I’m only 35.

This is fantastic news as his turn as the villain in the JJ Abrams sequel to the Star Trek reboot will no doubt make him a huge star. It’s comforting to see that he isn’t planning on leaving the role that has made him.
