Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom is being released on October 16th and to get you in the mood check out this international trailer hyping the release. It’s from the UK and they have already had their release date over there. Still it’s a great little trailer, just ignore the date at the end.

About the Film Moonrise Kingdom is directed by Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Fantastic Mr. Fox) who also wrote the script with Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited). The film features an all-star cast that includes Bill Murray, Harvey Keitel, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman surrounding fresh young actors Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward.
This movie has really snuck up on me much in the same way that the recent reboot of 21 Jump Street snuck up on me. I am one of those folks that happens to like the special brand of comedy that one Kevin James brings to the table. It’s light, on point with just the right amount of physical comedy in the mix. His turn in Hitch was great, I dug Paul Blart : Mall Cop and really he has done no wrong in my eyes since then.
I do have to say that when I saw this trailer at first, I went in thinking that this was going to be his first turkey. I should have known better because this movie looks great. It looks like it’s going to be the perfect lead-up to what is looking like a pretty heavy-duty slate of fall films including the likes of Lincoln, Skyfall, Les Miserables and more.

One of the most talked about movies of last year’s TIFF was the The Raid which premiered during the Midnight Madness portion of the festival. Quite literally blowing away the audiences that watched the film, it carried this mojo across the world to most recently the toughest of audiences – the SXSW Movie Festival where it continued it’s reign of awesome.
I am very eager to see this film as I very much regret not catching it during its premiere at TIFF. It just so happens that Xavierpop is giving away a whack load of double passes so you too can in fact catch it with me. Head over to the contest page for full details and your chance to catch The Raid: Redemption.
To whet your appetite, check out the trailer and hopefully we’ll see you there.

As we wind down the summer blockbuster season and wait for the Fall flock of films to be unleashed upon us, there is always a gap that takes place in the month of August. Usually the movies that open in the latter part of the summer are not exactly the best of films as studios are worried about moviegoers suffering film fatigue. They want to make sure that we eager for the so-called bigger films that launch after Labour Day.
This August this is the farthest from the truth. We have some pretty fantastic films that are being released and that is going to make watching movies finally fun the second half of the summer leading into TIFF.
The first of these movies is the much-anticipated The Help starring (my favourite actress du jour) Emma Stone and Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis is based on the best-seller of the same name.
To say that this is an important film is not understating it all. The trailer promises us a well-told, well-acted movie that will tackle a subject that should not be forgotten in a manner that will allow as many people as possible to see it.
Xavierpop is very proud to be involved in this screening and hope that you can make it.

Last we saw Jessie Eisenberg, he was part of a movie that will probably define a generation with The Social Network. His latest films pairs him up with highly underrated and the very funny Aziz Ansari as he goes back to his roots in comedy with 30 Minutes Or Less.
This one is getting a lot of great feedback as the pairing of the two go up against a very well-cast duo of bank robbers in Danny McBride and Nick Swardson. Of course hilarity ensues, however in this case, it seems to be the proper type of hilarity. Xavierpop is pleased to be giving away passes to an upcoming Super, Super Advanced Screening of the movie taking place this Monday July 18th at 7:00pm in Toronto. Head over to the contest page for the full details and we hope to see you there.
