There is just something about the upcoming Jackie Robinson biopic 42 starring Chadwick Boseman as the iconic baseball player who broke the colour lines.

Maybe it’s because I am a pretty huge Jackie Robinson fan. Maybe it’s because each of the two trailers brilliantly and aptly featured one of my favourite Jay-Z songs. Maybe it’s because that featurette that dropped a while back really gave us a sense of something special.

After walking away with the Oscar For Best Picture for Argo, George Clooney‘s Smokehouse Productions has just sent out a press release announcing their latest film The Monuments Men is beginning production.

In my opinion, they really dropped the ball with the 50th Anniversary of  James Bond tribute at the Oscars this past weekend. Like really, really dropped it.

Amongst the hubbub and craziness that is the Academy Awards, something very cool happened for nerds everywhere.

Fine Films’ Inocente made history during the ceremony as the first Kickstarter-funded film to win an Oscar.

There were a couple of surprises tonight, however the 2013 Oscars was a pretty predictable affair with (and to the actual surprise of no one) Argo took home the big Best Picture prize, Anne Hathaway walked away with the Best Supporting Actress Oscar and Daniel Day-Lewis taking the trophy home for Best Actor.

To get you in the mood for the Best Picture Category tonight for the 2013 Academy Awards (which I have picked to go to Argo), check out this great video that cuts together video montage featuring footage from all 84 years of Best Picture winners to date.
